Light shapes how we experience time and place.
Morning or evening, summer or winter, sun or moon…
Each moment carries its own colour and character — whether brilliant or subdued, warm or cool — and that quality of light often becomes the unifying element that ties a painting together.
The Impressionists called it the "envelope" of light, and it remains central to everything that I do.
The paintings in this Poetry of Place Collection focus on creating a poetic interpretation of the landscape that surrounds us – and the light that illuminates it.
I have kept the scenes intentionally simple so that they exude a quiet sense of harmony. I hope they bring you a sense of joyful calm, so needed in these turbulent times.

From my studio to your home…
Inspiration for this collection was gathered in the towns and coastal areas surrounding my studio on the South Shore of Nova Scotia.
All original paintings in this collection are acrylic on canvas or cradled wood panel. Smaller pieces (6×6” to 11×14”) are framed and larger canvas works (20×20” to 20×30”) are gallery-depth with the sides painted a solid and coordinating colour that looks harmonious and completes the artwork.
All pieces are ready-to-hang, and hang beautifully flush to the wall with a conceiled wire.
Each painting in this collection was crafted carefully by hand in my studio. More information about each piece can be found on individual shop listings.

About the collection
The Poetry of Place Collection is a series of more than thirty paintings created over the past year. They celebrate the harmonious beauty of Nova Scotia’s South Shore. Paintings in this collection focus on a quiet, poetic interpretation of the homes, gardens, and coastal landscape that surround my studio… and the light that illuminates this place. I hope they bring a sense of joyful calm, so needed in these turbulent times.
